About Equi-Feedback

Learning and Development in Dialogue with Horses

Equi-Feedback creates experiential spaces in which people gain new perspectives about themselves, their behavior, and their relationships with others through meaningful encounters with horses. The horses serve as trainers and training partners, supporting the development and strengthening of personal, social, physical, and movement-related skills.

At the heart of Equi-Feedback is learning through direct experience: through interaction with a living being, in nature, and in authentic encounters. In an increasingly digitalized world, Equi-Feedback deliberately creates space for direct connection, awareness, and relationships. Learning does not emerge from knowledge alone, but through experience, feedback, and active engagement with one’s own behavior.

Why Horses?

Horses respond immediately to what they perceive in a given moment. They do not judge or hold past experiences against a person; instead, they respond to the signals they receive in the present. This creates a particularly direct and honest form of feedback.

As highly sensitive and social animals, horses perceive subtle changes in body language, posture, voice, breathing, and muscle tone. They respond to both the internal and external state of the person they are interacting with and can therefore serve as a mirror and as a form of natural biofeedback.

At the same time, horses are herd animals whose social lives depend on clear communication, trust, and functional relationships. Their ability to form relationships with humans makes them valuable partners in learning and development processes.

Areas of Development

Equi-Feedback brings together physical, psychological, and social dimensions of development. Depending on the individual or group context, the programs can support:

  • enjoyment of movement, movement competence, and physical activity in nature

  • body awareness and the conscious use of body language

  • mindfulness and self-regulation

  • self-esteem and self-confidence

  • communication and social skills

  • teamwork and team development

  • leadership skills, authenticity, and the development of an individual leadership style

The aim is not simply to acquire new skills, but also to develop a more conscious awareness of oneself and others and to discover new ways of responding and acting.

Scientifically Grounded and Practice-Oriented

Equi-Feedback combines scientific expertise with extensive practical experience in working with both horses and people. The programs are designed and delivered by a highly qualified researcher with extensive experience in research, teaching, and adult education, complemented by professional qualifications and many years of practical experience in the equestrian field.

This combination provides the foundation for designing equine-assisted learning and development processes in a scientifically informed way, continuously refining them, and supporting them through appropriate methods. In addition to educational and developmental programs, Equi-Feedback also provides scientific services.

Drawing on the international academic and professional background of its founder and on international collaborations, Equi-Feedback can be implemented across a range of settings and cultural contexts. Equi-Feedback views the interaction between humans and horses as a powerful experiential space for sustainable development – scientifically grounded, practice-oriented, and tailored to the individual needs and context of each person, group, or organization.
